1. What Is Winged Light?
Winged Light (often called WL) are glowing, child-like figures scattered across the world of Sky. When you find and collect them, they transform into light and become part of your cape.
Each Winged Light adds one energy segment to your wings, allowing you to fly longer, glide farther, and reach places that were previously out of reach.
You can find Winged Light hidden in many places — from obvious locations along your journey to secret areas that require exploration and curiosity. Some are easy to grab, while others may challenge you to climb higher or search more carefully.
Winged Light is the core of your progression in Sky. The more you collect, the stronger and more free you become when exploring the world.
However, keep in mind that Winged Light is not entirely permanent. After completing the Eye of Eden, you will lose them and must collect them again — making exploration an ongoing journey.
2. How Winged Light Works
Winged Light (WL) is what powers your cape in Sky. Every Winged Light you collect adds one energy segment to your wings. The more you have, the longer you can fly and the higher you can reach.
As your total Winged Light increases, your wing level will go up.
Each level is shown by the number of wing icons on your back
- 1–5 Wings: Early progression, requires a small number of Winged Light
- 6 Wings: ~35 Winged Light
- 7 Wings: ~55 Winged Light
- 8 Wings: ~75 Winged Light
- 9 Wings: ~100 Winged Light
- 10 Wings: ~120 Winged Light
- 11 Wings: ~150 Winged Light
- 12 Wings: ~200 Winged Light
Each new wing level gives you more flight energy, allowing you to:
- Fly longer without falling
- Reach higher and hidden areas
- Explore difficult regions more safely
To reach higher wing levels (especially 10–12 wings), you will need more than just exploring:
- Collect Winged Light across all realms
- Unlock Wing Buffs from spirits (permanent bonuses after rebirth)
- Find extra Winged Light inside Shard Memories
It’s a long-term progression system — but every Winged Light you collect brings you one step closer to full flight freedom.
3. What Happens to Winged Light in Eden
During an Eye of Eden run, you will gradually lose your Winged Light as part of the journey.
This is completely normal and is actually a core mechanic of the game. You are meant to sacrifice your light in order to progress further.
As you lose Winged Light, you will earn Ascended Candles, a special currency used to unlock powerful upgrades like Wing Buffs from spirits.
After completing Eden, you will be reborn and start again with a small number of Winged Light — but this time, you are stronger than before.
Thanks to Wing Buffs and your overall progress, each new run becomes easier and allows you to reach higher wing levels over time.
In short: losing Winged Light in Eden is not a setback — it’s how the game helps you grow.
4. How to Get Winged Light Back After Rebirth
After rebirth, your Winged Light will reset — but it doesn’t disappear forever. Instead, all Winged Light return to their original locations across the world.
This means you can explore the realms again and collect them one by one, just like your first journey.
At the same time, Wing Buffs will automatically restore a portion of your Winged Light, giving you a head start after rebirth.
By combining Wing Buffs and recollecting Winged Light from each realm, you can quickly rebuild your wing level and become even stronger than before.
Over time, this cycle of explore → collect → rebirth → grow becomes the core progression loop of Sky.
6. Where to Find Winged Light
Winged Light are spread across all realms in the game. Some are easy to spot along your main path, while others are hidden in more difficult or secret locations.
You may need to explore carefully, fly higher, or even solve small environmental puzzles to reach them.
If you want a complete breakdown of every location, you can check the full Winged Light locations guide for detailed maps and routes.
Some Winged Light are hidden in high or secret areas — take your time and explore every corner.
7. FAQ
Do Winged Light reset after Eden?
Yes. All Winged Light are lost during an Eden run as part of the sacrifice. After rebirth, they return to their original locations and can be collected again.
Are Winged Light from shard memories permanent?
No. Just like normal Winged Light, they reset after rebirth and return to their shard memories, allowing you to collect them again.
Can I lose Winged Light?
Yes. If you take heavy damage or run out of energy, your Winged Light can scatter. You have a short time to recover it — otherwise, it will be lost.
How many Winged Light are there in total?
There are many Winged Light spread across all realms, plus additional ones from shard memories. The exact number can change with updates, but collecting all of them is key to reaching higher wing levels.
Do Wing Buffs give permanent Winged Light?
Yes. Wing Buffs are permanent upgrades. After each rebirth, they automatically restore a portion of your Winged Light, helping you start stronger every time.
